Research Focus

Dr Scholar’s research centres on understanding how people use information, tools and technologies in real-world settings. Their work combines qualitative and quantitative approaches to examine decision-making, user experience, and the impact of design on behaviour. They are particularly interested in applied methods that bridge academic research, industry practice and public engagement.

Current or Recent Projects

  • “Decision-Making in Complex Systems” — a three-year interdisciplinary study exploring how people interpret data when under pressure (2021–present).
  • “Design for Transparency” — collaboration with a European research consortium evaluating the clarity and usability of digital information interfaces.
  • “Behavioural Insight Toolkit” — development of an open-access set of research tools for students and practitioners.

Teaching Areas or Courses

  • Research Methods and Evaluation — postgraduate module on practical and theoretical research design.
  • Human-Centred Design — MSc course combining design thinking and behavioural insights.
  • Data Literacy for Non-Specialists — workshop series for staff and postgraduate students.
